Dr. Daniel Levenson, DVM

Veterinarian

Is from Southern New Mexico, graduating from Gadsden High School. He attended college in Boston and then Gainesville, Florida, where he received his bachelor’s degree followed by his DVM from the University of Florida in 1993. He worked in northern and southern California before deciding to come home to New Mexico and has been in Albuquerque for over twelve years.

Dr. Laura Hedemann, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Hedemann is a native of Albuquerque and is excited to be back home! She received her biology degree from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and attended Colorado State University Veterinary School. She enjoys both internal medicine and surgery and emphasizes pain management and improving the quality of life of all her patients. She also has a big interest in exotic species and looks forward to always learning more.

Dr. Sara Romero, DVM

Veterinarian

She was born & raised in New Mexico & got her D.V.M in 2002 from Colorado State. She really enjoys internal medicine and surgery as well. She loves being able to help when they are sick and their continued health throughout their lives. Client education is also something she enjoys. She has 1 dog named Finn which is her best bud. When she is not helping animals she enjoys being home snuggling with her dog and hanging out with her mom and watching trash tv like reality shows.

Alicia F.

 Office Administrator

Alicia was born in Goshen, NY but moved to New Mexico at the early age of 1 year old. She has been working in the veterinary field for 25 years working mainly as a client care specialist and also doing some technician assistance when needed. Now being the office administrator she works in all aspects of the hospital.

She has a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Phoenix. She loves working with animals and to be working side by side with them is such a joy. She has known Dr. Levenson & his family well over 20 years & has opened the clinic with him in 2006. Being able to have been a part of SVMC family all these years has been an honor. I have met a lot of wonderful clients over the years some that have become close friends.

When she is not at work she loves to garden and spend time with her husband, her family and beloved dog Marshmallow.

New Mexico born but Minnesota raised. Graduated from CNM with 3 associate degrees and working on her Bachelors in History. Has been working with animals since an early age. She currently has 4 cats, 2 dogs, & 2 ball pythons. One of the many reasons she loves working at Southwest is that everyone treats our patients with the same respect & adoration as their own family pets. When she is not at work she enjoys playing video games, hiking in the Sandia’s with her dogs and going on photography adventures.

I was born & raised here in New Mexico I have been in the veterinary field for over 10 years now. I started here at Southwest in October of 2022. I love what I do and very much dedicated to my job. I have 4 dogs and my dog Sammy the yorkie is my baby. When I am not working I enjoy spending time with kids and husband.

Hi, I’m Raquel! I’m an RVT that has been with SVMC since December 2020. Rio Rancho is where I was born and raised. I earned an Associate in Liberal Arts from CNM Community College in 2014 and an Associate in Veterinary Technology in 2016. Following graduation, I became a licensed RVT in the state of New Mexico.

I have my EUT certification as of 2023 where I provide a gentle and respectful end-of-life experience
I enjoy learning new abilities, and there are no boundaries to what you can learn in the veterinary industry. I knew I was in the right line of work when I was surrounded by more animals than people.
Devyn, my husband and I have 3 dogs, 1 lizards & 2 cats. We spend most of our free time in the mountains. We cast a line in the river in the summer and shred the gnar in the winter.

I was born in El Paso, TX but grew up in New Mexico, I have been an RVT since March of 2018. I am passionate about the care and treatment of patients, client education and the quality of patient & advocating for our patients. I love education, client education and teaching up and coming technicians new to the field. I love learning especially since veterinary medicine is always evolving.
I have 2 dogs, 2 cats, a bearded dragon & a ball python.

When I am not working I enjoy camping, fishing and spending quality time with my family. I also enjoy going to events like the Ballon Fiesta, wine festival, and the pumpkin patch, but my favorite hobby is making good memories.

Here at Southwest my duties are cleaning, assisting the Vet assistants with whatever they need and also helping to hold animals when needed. I love all animals thats why I love my job. I have 10 of my own personal pets which include 1 rat Remy, my cat Bucky and my 2 dogs Kodiak & Mika and my 4 funny ferrets. Out of all the animals horses are my most favorite. Some of my other non animal related things I like is anything Marvel comics and Arctic Monkey’s. When I am not at work I spend time with my family and my animals. I enjoy playing with my dog Kodiak, playing video games, listening to music, binge watching tv shows and relaxing on my days off. I love doing what I do here at Southwest and hope to see many more of your amazing pets (especially German Shepherds).

The reason why I chose this profession is my love of animals and wanting to help them live a long healthy & loved life. When I am not at work I am snuggling on the couch with all my beloved animals.

Born in Puerto Rico and traveled some until I landed here in New Mexico. I love working with animals because we are the first line of defense to client education and treating their pets. There is no better feeling than helping those who cannot communicate nor help themselves. I have 2 DSH cats. When I am not at work I like going to music festivals/concerts, gaming, sporting events, playing sports and outdoor activities.

I was born & raised in New Mexico, started in veterinary medicine in 1991 -2005 worked at Eye Care for Animals for 5 years and then worked in human health care until summer of 2024 when I started here at Southwest. Surgery is my passion and getting back into it makes me very happy.
Our pets are part of our family, I love being able to help make animals feel better &seeing their owners so happy when they see their pets are well & thriving and seeing how happy the owners are when they are well.

I have 2 German shepherd’s Wolfgang & Razzle, I Australian Cattle dog/Dachshund Mix named Jewel.
I enjoy spending time with my pets walking, hiking and playing with them. I also enjoy listening to local bands & dancing.
